Infant/Toddler Full time daycare (0-3 yrs) and Preschool age Full time daycare (3-5 yrs) :
The full day daycare program has a well planned daily schedule that includes learning circles, free play, outdoor activities and quiet time. High quality child care includes planned activities appropriate for each child’s age, interests and abilities. Children do best with routines and a balance of activities that allows for quiet and active play, indoor and outdoor activities, and the opportunity to play with others and play alone. Our daily schedule is flexible and can change in order to follow the children’s interests or to suit the needs of particular child or group of children.
The following is a sample of what a typical day at Messy Hands might look like:
7:30 am – 9:00 am – Arrival time: set out a few quiet activities that children can move to without much direction as they arrive (play dough, building blocks, water/sand table play, pretend play area).
9:00 am – 9:30 am – Wash hands and have snack
9:30 am – 10:00 am – Group time in French and English (songs, dance, felt story, read a book, discussions).
10:00 am – 10:45 am – Work in the Art Studio; explore new materials.
10:45 am – 11:45 am – Outdoor activity. Active indoor play if too cold or wet to go outside. Active play will include action songs and games.
11:45 am -12:00 pm – Tidy-up, wash hands
12:00 pm – 12:30 pm – Have lunch
12:30 pm – 2:30 pm – Quiet time, starting with a story or soothing music. A nap for the younger children and possibly a quiet activity like reading, moon sand, play dough or an art activity for the children who are not sleeping.
2:30 pm – 3:00 pm – Wake-up, clean-up and have a snack.
3:00 pm -3:30 pm – Group time with songs, games and stories in French and English
3:30 pm – 4:00 pm – Free, unstructured play indoors or outdoors if weather permits
